About the Foundation

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama established the Alabama Child Caring Foundation (ACCF) in 1987 as a means of providing Alabama's uninsured children with the healthcare they need. The first child was enrolled in March 1988. More than 60,000 children have received assistance from the ACCF's Caring Program for Children.

The mission of ACCF is to provide immediate medical care and ongoing medical coverage for needy uninsured children who are not eligible for Alabama's governmental programs.
